Applications are now welcomed for travel assistance bursaries, open to attendees of the POLLEN20 conference.

SIID and the BIOSEC project are offering up to 8 awards to assist with attendance at the POLLEN20 conference. Eligible candidates can apply for up to £500 to cover the costs of travel, accommodation, subsistence and/or the conference registration fee.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • have paper accepted and be registered to present in person at POLLEN20
  • the paper must be related to security and biodiversity, specific topics include (but not limited to) illegal wildlife trade, militarisation of conservation, poaching, anti-poaching, conservation law enforcement, technology for conservation etc.
  • be a PhD student or early career scholar from the global South (i.e. not more than 2 years post PhD completion), OR a PhD student (from anywhere) who is not in receipt of a scholarship for their studies

 

How to apply

Please send a statement of application of not more than 500 words to biosec@sheffield.ac.uk by 15 April 2020. The statement should provide the following information:

    • author(s), title and short abstract of the paper
    • a brief explanation of how you meet all of the eligibility criteria
    • a breakdown of the total costs of attending POLLEN20 (travel, subsistence, accommodation, registration fee).

     

    Other information

    Successful applicants will be invited to attend a 1.5 hour BIOSEC meeting at POLLEN20 to discuss possible future collaborations. Lunch will be provided.
