Professor Rosaleen Duffy

Rosaleen joined the Politics Department at the University of Sheffield in September 2016. She has always been interested in wildlife conservation, and her research work has focused on peace parks, ecotourism and international environmental agreements, especially CITES.

In this project Rosaleen will focus on why the illegal wildlife trade is fast developing as a major theme in global debates and how trafficking is being redefined as an environmental crime, which could contribute to global insecurity. She believes there is a real need for a better understanding of the social and political dynamics of the illegal wildlife trade, and that this will help us develop better and more socially just responses to wildlife trafficking.
